We understand that purchasing a sport horse is a significant investment. Therefore, we can support you in organizing an independent veterinary inspection upon request.
Upon request, we can arrange an appointment at a recognized equine clinic or with a veterinarian for a full pre-purchase examination. Our role is to schedule the appointment and facilitate the process; the veterinary assessment is the responsibility of the veterinarian and your own advisor.

How the pre-purchase examination works
Scheduling an appointment
Upon request, we arrange an appointment at a recognized equine clinic or with a veterinarian at a time that is convenient for you.
Clinical examination
A comprehensive clinical examination performed by an independent veterinarian. Any diagnostic images will be taken by the clinic and shared with you.
Results
You will receive the full examination report directly from the clinic. You will discuss the findings with your own veterinarian to make your decision; we do not provide a veterinary judgment ourselves.
What is checked during a pre-purchase examination?
Clinical examination
The veterinarian evaluates the heart, lungs, eyes, teeth, legs, and hooves, and observes the horse at walk and trot on both hard and soft surfaces. Flexion tests are also part of a standard clinical examination.
Radiological examination
Upon request, the clinic will take a series of X-rays. The number of images is determined in consultation with your own veterinarian and depends on the level at which you intend to compete the horse.
Additional examinations
Think of blood tests, ultrasounds, or endoscopies. These are optional and are performed by the clinic when there is cause for it or upon your request.

You choose the veterinarian
The examination is performed on your behalf. You are free to appoint your own veterinarian or clinic; the report belongs to you.
Assessment and transport
We do not provide veterinary opinions and do not arrange transport or import. The final decision is yours in consultation with your veterinarian; transport arrangements should be made with the seller.

Is the veterinarian independent?
Yes. The examination is carried out by an independent veterinarian or a recognized equine clinic, commissioned by you as the buyer.
Who pays for the examination?
The pre-purchase examination is typically paid for by the buyer, as the report belongs to the buyer.
Can you arrange transport or import?
No. Transport, import, export, customs documentation, and quarantine must be arranged directly with the seller. We connect the buyer and seller so that you can coordinate these arrangements between yourselves.
Do you evaluate the X-rays?
No. We do not evaluate any images ourselves. The examination report and X-rays are sent directly to you; you review the images together with your own veterinarian and make your decision based on those findings.
How long does an examination report remain valid?
An examination is a snapshot in time. In practice, many buyers and insurers apply a validity period of a few weeks; if more time passes, the horse is usually clinically re-examined.
Can the examination take place in my own country?
The examination takes place where the horse is located, generally in the Netherlands or the country of the seller. You can have your own veterinarian participate or have the report reviewed retrospectively.
What happens if there is an abnormal finding?
You will receive the findings directly from the clinic and discuss with your veterinarian what they mean for the horse's intended use. You then decide whether to proceed, renegotiate, or cancel the purchase.
Who schedules the appointment?
We coordinate the date and location with the seller and the clinic, so you do not have to mediate yourself. The assignment and payment are handled by you as the buyer.
